why?

The ultimate frontier in human life is death. From the moment of decease up to the funeral or cremation the body finds itself in an extreme situation of transition. It is there and yet it isn’t. It finds itself within the gate that separates here from there. The unpersonal, chipboard coffin in which it is usually put away denies the symbolism of this situation altogether. Nothing refers to the loved one. His or her personality has been totally erased.
